I'd always been the type of girl that liked going all natural. I felt that wearing makeup meant hiding my true self and that I didn't have the time to wear it. My mom was the same way and no one ever bothered to teach me any beauty tips and tricks so that I'd know how to use it right. As I've gotten older though, I've realized that makeup can be fun. Seeing celebrity before and after photos show that makeup doesn't have to be used to make someone look different just better.

I was fortunate enough to receive makeup as a gift for Hanukkah last year. My sister-in-law bought me a starter kit and a gift card to get anything else I may need. I went in to a specialty make up store and had a lesson, got some free make up tips, and I'm amazed at how great I look. I still look like me, but don't feel fake. It was just a matter of knowing how to apply it to make myself look good.

Now I love it and am slightly obsessed with creating new looks. It's just that it can get expensive, and so I've started suggesting that my friends get me different specialty makeup products as gifts. We have girly makeover nights where we all try new looks and we shop together to create new styles. We cover everything from eye, lip, face and cheek makeup to skin care products, hair products, you name it.

When I first received the make up as a gift, I was surprised, since I wasn't used to receiving it as a gift. But now, it's one of my favorite things ever and I get super excited anytime anyone chooses to give me makeup or cosmetics as a gift. It's fun to get all dolled up and pretty, I even asked my husband to go shopping with me and we played in the store and he bought me some products that he especially liked. It really is fun to be a girl and get all fancied up, but it's way more fun when someone else is buying!
