A beauty trolley, also known as a cosmetic or beauty case, is used most often in salons to store supplies such as brushes, scissors and in some cases hair curlers. With rolling wheels on the bottom side on the trolley it makes for a convenient and easy to move solution to storage.
These trolleys, however, are not limited to just hair care professionals. Hair and makeup artists often use them while on location within the film industry as well as for models on the runway. Trolleys can store most of the needed supplies and are light weight.
Trolleys are available in many different colors and constructions. For instance they are made of either wood or metal to include steel and aluminum. A basic trolley with a mirror or magnifier costs roughly $230 in the United States. And when they are shipped to any location after purchase they are folded to expose the easy to store method of the trolley. When not in use or in cases where owners need to travel, the trolley can be neatly folded and should fit in the trunk of any car.
Some craft makers use these trolleys to hold their crafting supplies as it is easy to transport these supplies from one location to the other. Some trolley designs will allow you to fold them into box like storage where you are not required to remove any of your supplies. With the lightweight design you can literally box up your supplies within the trolley.
In the film industry, where time is money, these trolleys can be pushed with ease to one location to the other. For instance if the film calls for a lot of special effects makeup on several different actors the artist can simply push the entire trolley from one person to the other. This save the time of having to repack up supplies just to move it from location to another. Plus it is frustrating for an artist to be required to walk back and forth long distances just to get a few supplies. After all each moment counts in the creation of special effects makeup and the artist must apply specific layers within a certain time frame. Not doing so may alter the end result and cause the artist to waste more time having to redo a layer of makeup or appliance which could have been completed if they had the use of the beauty trolley.
If you are a licensed makeup artist the purchase of a portable beauty trolley is considered a business expense and you can claim it on your taxes as such. This will save you a lot of tax dollars at the year's end.
