There was some news released on Wednesday that might interest people who enjoy searching out deals online. Online selling giant Amazon made an announcement that they will be buying Woot. If you aren't familiar with what Woot is, it is rather unusual site that offers special deals on one chosen item at a time rather than offering an entire website full of merchandise to browse through (like Amazon does).
To kick off their relationship, the Amazon Kindle was offered at a special low price on Woot. The items were snapped up in a hurry which is not really that big of a surprise. Regular shoppers on Woot seem to get pretty serious about snagging bargains. When my own sister found the site about a year ago, she went through about a two week period of emailing me about the great stuff she was finding. From what I've seen, there are some nice deals available on the site from time to time. They actually help out large retailers by putting their extra merchandise up for sale in front of hungry buyers who may otherwise never have seen it.
Amazon does already offer special Gold Box deals on a daily basis, but they don't have quite the following that Woot items do. That might be part of what Amazon was interested in getting involved with Woot. Woot focuses their audience on one item at a time. Woot also has a base of regulars that love to share what they have found (like my sister). These folks will tweet and make announcements to their Facebook friends when they find a great deal. I'm sure that Amazon would love to add that social element to their base of customers.
Those folks who love Woot aren't just willing to share information about deals, though, they have also proven through their buying that they are willing to jump and make purchases quickly. Amazon probably loves the idea that they will now be able to reach a ton of people who like to click on "buy now" buttons. It should make for something interesting to watch as the holiday shopping starts a little later this year.
If you are a frequent online shopper (or even if you aren't), what do you think this deal will mean for Amazon and Woot? Feel free to comment below!

Although people really start thinking a lot about gift giving during the holidays, people actually exchange quite a few presents throughout the entire year. People are constantly looking for new ideas so that they can give an original and memorable present to the people they care about.
